Wax Crystals

Instructions for using Wax Crystals

  1. Choose a suitable, heat resistant container to create your own candle.
  2. Position the wick centrally within the container.
    • IMPORTANT Ensure that wicks are at least 5cm (2 inches) away from the edges of the container and at least 10cm (4 inches) away from another wick. This is to ensure that the molten wax from individual wicks does not merge to form one mass of molten wax.
  3. Pour in the wax crystals.
  4. After filling, ensure the wick is only 1cm (10mm) above the level of the crystals, and light.
  5. Once a wick has burnt out, leave the molten wax for 15 minutes to harden into a solid lump. Once the lump has formed remove it from the remaining wax crystals.
  6. Insert a new wick into the centre of the remaining crystals.
  7. Top up with new crystals and re-light.

Instructions For “Floating On Water” Displays

  1. Create your display in a suitable container or vase and fill with water.
  2. Pour wax crystals onto the surface, trying to create a mountain (approximately 4cm high), where you wish to burn the wick.
  3. Just before you intend to light the wick, remove the metal sustainer with scissors and place into the wax crystals in the peak of the mountain you have created. The height of the mountain should give you enough depth to push the wick to only 10mm above the surface of the wax crystals whilst the bottom of the wick is not in the water.
  4. Once the wick has expired and the wax has solidified, remove the solid lump and pour in some replacement wax crystals and repeat instructions (1) to (3) if you wish to burn a candle on the same display again.
  5. When you wish to replace the water or have finished with the display, pour the wax crystals and water from the container through a sieve to recover the crystals. Place the remaining crystals onto a tea towel to re-use once dry.

CAUTION

Candles should always be burnt in suitable containers large enough to catch any dripping wax. As containers can get hot during use, place them on a level, heat-resistant surface away from flammable materials and objects. Wax turns to liquid during use, so keep away from children and pets. Do not leave burning candles unattended.
